The Little Kid Way

”There is no way of telling people that they are all walking around shining like the sun.”
-Thomas Merton
I have to share something Iryn, my 5 year old daughter said the other day. She has been trying to learn to do things at the playground… Usually she’s a bit chicken, but she has wanted to do the trolley (zip line) and the monkey bars in the worst way, so she’s been trying and trying. She mastered the trolley in the summer, and a few weeks ago, she figured out how to hang from the monkey bars and then drop, without any help. She said: “Mama! I figured out how to do things…. first I do it the little kid way, and then, when I’m good at that, I do it the big kid way.”
That’s about the best advice I’ve heard in a long, long time.
What can you start out doing the “little kid way”?
