I love Barbara Sher

Okay, so you absolutely must know how much I adore Barbara Sher.  And I want you all to  love her too.

She has written 3 amazing books:  “Wishcraft:  How To Get What You Really Want“, “I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What it Was“, and my personal favorite, “Refuse To Choose:  A Revolutionary Program for Doing Everything That You Love”

The third one is called revolutionary because she diagnoses a personality type that she calls “Scanners”, which are creative people who flit from one project to the next and have trouble finishing.

I LOVE THIS!!!!  I have always wondered what was wrong with me.  A few years ago, I made some peace with it and this book gives me a new language to describe how I work as well as great tools to structure productive creative work.

It’s snowing here tonight.  Talk about 2 different reactions from my daughters:  Iryn, my 5-year old, started waving her arms in the air and dancing, whereas Ella, age 2, who has “neat-freak” tendencies, became quite concerned that the stuff was covering our car, until I reassured her that it was okay.

Little Goodies

Monday, November 19th, 2007

leavesHi.

I’m back.

I took a bit of a break.

I know.  It’s not good business taking a break RIGHT after a launch.  But I woke up one morning and realized that in all the details, I was really really missing myself.

However, now I feel like I owe you all a little something.  So here’s a few little goodies that have kept me going lately.

I’ve been digging Penelope’s artsy journal  pages.  They remind me to break out of my usual routine and say it in a different way.  Also, her BEST ADVICE project is fun.

My friend Joanna recommended “I Feel Bad About My Neck” to me awhile back and I picked it up the other day from the library.  I started it on Saturday evening and had finished it by Sunday afternoon.  Don’t ask me how.  And that was in between folding laundry and lighting fires (our furnace is broken, but that’s for another time) and making meals for the girls.  (Okay, so maybe the girls watched a little more tv than usual) It was a great read, a few tears, a few out-loud laughs.  Afterward, I wanted to write for hours, and managed to escape to a cafe for the late afternoon and walked home happy and giddy in the cold.

Last but not least, a little list of IDEAS that are sure to inspire.  My favorite is the idea for morning collages, which I LOVE doing and take only about 20 minutes.
